A city bustling with sound and fame, New York is known for its skyline, its spirit, and above all, its food. Its streets are filled with enticing smells of cheesy pizza slices, everything bagels, and bakery-style cookies. Food enthusiasts from around the world come to this urban landscape just to experience these aspects of its gastronomy. On our recent trip to New York, we had the pleasure of enjoying it ourselves and tasting some of the most famous foods and dishes.
Known for its viral hot chocolate, which has taken social media by storm, Glace was a sweet start to our culinary journey. The hot chocolate was warm and decadent, making it an absolute hit.
We tried the salted caramel and classic s’mores flavors. Although the drinks were quite enjoyable, especially in the winter weather, they were overly sweet. While none of us could finish the hot chocolates, we still believe they live up to their hype.
“I liked it, but I was definitely expecting more of a unique flavor from it,” said Sasha Kilgour, (11) who prefers the more affordable hot chocolate options found in supermarkets.
Another famous food spot we stopped at in New York City was Levain. This bakery is known for its thick and rich cookies, which come in various flavors, such as Coffee Toffee and the classic chocolate chip. When we went, we bought the two-chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter, and walnut chocolate chip cookies. Each one had a chewy, melted center filled with chocolate chips.
Valentina Steutelings (11) a fellow student who joined us on our trip enjoys the double chocolate chip the most, because of it’s soft “almost undercooked” center.
“One of my favorite things to do in New York is go get Levain cookies and accompany them with a hot chocolate from Glace in Rockefeller Center,” said Steutelings.

Our final stop was Serra in Eataly. Eataly was founded in 2007 as the first multifunctional marketplace to bring Italian excellence to the world. With its lush plants and vibrant greenery, Serra provided an inviting atmosphere. The authentic Italian dishes and innovative drinks were the perfect end to our New York adventure, leaving us with a taste of Italy in the heart of the city.

At this restaurant, student Nalia Viau (11) was fascinated by how aesthetically pleasing it was.
“I thought the place was very earthy,” said Viau. “The vines on the ceiling really made the place different from your typical restaurant.”

With so many options to choose from, New York is sure to surprise your taste buds.
