The Prep has elected its Student Government Association (SGA) officers for the 2025–2026 school year. The new officers are Mateo Navarro (11) as president, Andrea Prieto (11) as vice president, Jacob Raymat (11) as secretary, and Rohan Alibhai (11) as treasurer.
Each student brings unique leadership goals and perspectives to their roles. As they prepare to take on their new responsibilities, all four share a similar commitment to strengthening student life and building a more unified campus.
Navarro, who will serve as president, first considered running during his freshman year when a peer suggested it. That idea stayed with him, and he now sees the position as a chance to be a strong voice for the student body.

“I think leadership is about taking action—especially when students feel frustrated and want real change,” Navarro said. “I didn’t do anything flashy to campaign; I just tried to be myself, and that’s what resonated with people.”
In addition to his new leadership role, Navarro is active in HIP and NHS. He said he balances his many commitments by staying organized and prioritizing what matters most. As president, he plans to improve school events like Lucky to Be a Bulldog and foster stronger connections between the prep and day school.
“I want to be someone students can count on,” he said. “And I want to show them that leadership isn’t out of reach—it’s something any student can grow into.”
Vice President Prieto brings a strong leadership background to her position. A former grade representative and the incoming HIP president, she said she’s passionate about student engagement and communication.

“My main goal is to make sure the student body runs smoothly and that everyone’s voice is heard,” Prieto said. “I want people to feel like their ideas matter.”
Among her goals is reviving Bulldog Breakout, allowing each grade to choose its own travel location—an opportunity for more customized experiences and bonding. She also hopes to implement smaller events throughout the year that help students build memories outside the classroom.
Prieto said she holds herself to high standards and approaches leadership with a mindset of responsibility and connection.
“I believe either you run your life or your life runs you,” she said. “That quote really sticks with me, and I try to live by it every day.”
Raymat, the incoming secretary, said he looks forward to playing a behind-the-scenes role in helping SGA operate smoothly.

“I’m excited to help make sure everything is organized and efficient,” Raymat said. “Whether it’s taking notes during meetings or helping with planning, I want to make sure things get done right.”
Raymat emphasized the importance of staying dependable and consistent, noting that small tasks often play a big role in creating larger changes on campus.
Treasurer Rohan Alibhai brings business knowledge and enthusiasm to his role. After taking a business elective, he felt equipped with the skills needed to manage school budgeting and help create more engaging events.

“The reason I ran is because I know how much I can bring to Riviera,” Alibhai said. “Whether it’s budgeting, fixing what needs to be improved, or making fun events happen, I’m passionate about it.”
He added that he hopes to contribute to a campus environment that feels fun, supportive, and responsive to student needs.
“I really believe in making Riviera the best it can be—for both middle and high school students,” he said.
As the school year winds down, the newly elected officers are already looking ahead. With a focus on communication, collaboration, and student engagement, the 2025–2026 SGA team is preparing to represent their peers and create positive change on campus.
