Senior Recognition is a tradition Riviera has had for many years in which the seniors on every athletic team are honored for their sports achievements. The recognized students for girls and boys soccer this year are Sylvana Acevedo, Valentina Allegra, Eva Gamboa, Zoe Gort, Milagros Lardiez, Alejandra Lopez, Violeta Macagno, Camilla Mercante, Clement de Fabrique, Jorge Barrera-Fernandez, Matias Grandio, Zachary Hawkes, Garrett Houli, Santiago Lozano Barrera, Diogo Oliveira Lavall, Mayer Rosario, and Santiago Trujillo.

The first Senior Soccer Recognition event was on Wednesday, January 18th, for the Girls’ Varsity Team. The small ceremony took place after tying 2-2 against Greater Miami Academy. Coach Young recognized the eight players and four team managers. For context, senior Zoe Gort has played soccer for Riviera for six years and is a starting forward on the team. Gort said the Recognition was “nice” and that she “loved” what Coach Young said about her during his speech.

took place on Friday, January 20th, for the Boy’s Varsity Team. The acknowledgment took place after their 2-1 win against Pinecrest Prep. Coach Young recognized nine seniors and thanked them for their dedication to the team. Senior Matias Grandio, who played soccer for Riviera for five years, said, “There was a little bit of nostalgia, and it felt good.”

Both teams had great seasons, and both recognitions were significant for the players. We are proud of our seniors and wish them all the best in college.
